The Pride Tour – Queer Irish, Global Impact

LGBTQ+ equality in Ireland only came relatively recently. Homosexuality was only decriminalised in 1993, with marriage equality following in 2015. However, LGBTQ+ people have always been part of Ireland’s story, and for many, emigration offered the chance to live more openly.

Our Pride Tour explores some of these stories, looking at the lives of LGBTQ+ Irish emigrants, activists, artists and other figures who challenged attitudes at home and made their mark around the world.

Based in Dublin's Docklands, EPIC tells the true story of the Irish, and acts as the base for the Irish Family History Centre. It also sits across from the Jeanie Johnston Famine Ship, just 2 minutes away.
